Here are just a few captures of our events, partnerships, and engagements.
Project #FatKidz: "Britt and Tone feed the Hungry"
Since February of 2018, OYLF partnered with Detroit change-agents, Brittney DeSouza and Antonio Williams Jr., to alleviate undernourishment of the hungry. Chairman Mix and Vice President Clark assisted with the trailblazing efforts of Britt and Tone through an OYLF partnership, including donation and volunteering. The event has truly been a success for Detroit. Each month we provide over 150 meals to members in the community. Since February, we have been able to provide to over 500 Detroit community members. As Britt and Tone continue their monthly Feed the Hungry, they now headship their initiative through their nonprofit organization, Acts of Altruism. We are extremely inspired by the work Britt and Tone has done and continues to do. Let's continue to build our community Britt and Tone! Thank you for addressing Global Statistical Data and contributing to the work of Project #FATKidz.

finding your purpose: University Prep high school
In April of 2018, OYLF partnered with University Preparatory Academy High School in Detroit, MI to host the "Finding Your Purpose" workshop with 50 brilliant Panthers (9th-12th grade). This workshop featured a rotational of stations hosted by the Board of Directors-Tamara Simmons, Lamont Davis, Alton Kirksey, and ShyAnn Clark-who tailored their topics specifically for the students. Ms. Sharon Hopkins, Assistant School Director of UPAHS, described the students reaction as, "engaged and inspired!" We truly enjoyed our time with the Panthers and cannot wait to engage in future programming with the students.
our inaugural plant a seed gala 2018
On April 21, 2018 we held our Inaugural Plant A Seed Gala. We had over 120 leaders from all over fill the room as we came together to raise funds for our upcoming generations. Collectively, we were able to surpass our donation goal and now have the means to launch our scholarship fund for next year. We would like to send our deepest thanks to our family, friends, and parties alike for attending and supporting the event. Furthermore, we would like to thank our Board of Directors, specifically Sr. Program Coordinator=Champagne Bennett, Program Coordinator-Lamont Davis, and Vice President of External Affairs-ShyAnn Clark for planning such a fantastic event!
Didn't get a chance to attend the gala? No worries, we will hold our Second Annual Plant A Seed Gala in 2019. In the meantime, feel free to donate, subscribe, and get involved with us as we continue to #GrowTogether.
